THE INTERVIEW:

Q: Why did you decide to begin your own business?

A: I love ART!! I believe that ART can bring joy and peace in all of us... so I decided to begin my own business to inspire others through my art and opportunities to create with me. I want to get my art out into the world for others to experience!!

Q: What's one thing about what you do that people might not know?

A: I have been teaching for over 26 years and have been a strong advocate and union member for most of those 26 years. I have facilitated workshops and trainings at state and national conferences, lobbied on Capitol Hill as an NEA Director, and chaired a multitude of committees and groups at local, state, and national levels. I also was the Virginia Education Association's recipient for the Award for Teaching Excellence and was a Fairfax County Public School's Outstanding Teacher Finalist.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or affirmation? What does it mean to you?

A: I am strong. I am healthy. I am peace. I am love.

After struggling for so many years with undiagnosed health issues... I felt helpless and hopeless. I felt alone. I was so sick yet no one knew what was happening to my body. I can't tell you the number of tests, doctor visits, and misguided diagnoses I experienced... Not to mention the amount of different medications I tried to fix the problems. It wasn't until 2021 that I started acupuncture. It was my last hope for some relief. I cried the entire 30 minutes once the dr left the room when I started going regularly.. I prayed and I repeated those words out loud with the hope that God would hear them and that the Universe would heal me.

A year later, I finally got a diagnosis that explains the unexplained- lupus. It will be a long road and my healing will never be finished. I actually have 3 autoimmune diseases... so when I paint and often when I am feeling not so strong and in acupuncture... those four sentences are the most powerful affirmations I have ever experienced or felt.
